Hi Oliver,
He must have been very happy to see this photograph than anyone else.
In most cases, if you have a some what distracting background, a wide aperture will create a shallow depth of field, as you have done here.
However, the white poster is distracting, because it is just behind his head and the colour white is very much contrasting with the rest of the backround colour-red.
Having said that, this is a good image made with the use of natural soft light.

Hi Putian,
This is a very simple and straightforward composition of two workers. As one can see from your description of this photograph, you have somewhat deep feelings and an understanding towards their life and hard work. This is certainly a very outstanding characteristic of a photographer, and unfortunately what we rarely find in today's world. And of course, you are one of them.Precisely that is what makes this photograph worth while.
Best regards
Sand
Hi Tracy,
Even with a few short comings,I am glad you shared this photo on TL.
Since it is not been taken by a so-called "stranger" or by someone who knows the couple only for a while, rather by some one who loves them this image becomes so involving.
By the way, battery is sometimes even important than light; especially at such a special occasion.
All the best,
Sand
Hi Niek,
This is a quit simple but very effective photographic composition. And of course, it is a thoughtful choice as well, to frame the subject matter in a vertical format.

Hi Inguna,
A warm welcome to Traklens, even though your first posting has been taken in freezing temperature:-))
The description for this photograph is really interesting, you have given an idea of the place it had been taken.
However, the image had got a slight blue cast, guess its the wrong white balance?. To put it in other words, the white is not white here.
By the way, I am also in full agreement with what you have written in your intro - "A camera for me it's the same that a pen for writer or a brush for painter".
Yes it's a tool.Nothing more and nothing less!
Best Regards
Sand
Hi Ted,
This is a good photograph, even though it included two distracting elements in it (the trunk on the right side and the leaf blow)
A high contrast photograph based on shape/form than on texture. But,you composition is somewhat failed here since you haven't paid serious attention towards it.I will do a workshop for it as soon as I find some time.
Best regards
Sand
Hi Bernd,
Frankly, I disagree with the previous commentator.
In fact the interesting thing in photographing in the mist is that the images become subdued in its sharpness, contrast, light and even saturation.Because all of these aspects will be veiled by the mist!
After all, photography is not just about having "sharpeness", "contrast" etc. All those aspects should be defined by the subject matter and in fact by the composition or by what the photographer wanted to convey with his/her image.
Therefore, I think your image is successful as I like its simplicity in terms of composition and effect.
However, I find that the photograph has a overall blue cast. It could be due to the wrong white balance setting, the colour calibration of your monitor or a combination of both. So, I have done a simple workshop, hope you like it.
Best regards, Sand.
Hi Muhammad,
Hope you are doing fine. And I am glad to see you here again with a nice portrait of a small boy.
I do believe that no other light source such as like side lighting could do the magic for portraits - It shows the three-dimensionality of the subject in a very appealing and impressive way.
After all, what defines a photograph is what the photographer adds to the subject. And you have succeeded in that in a simple way too. Its remarkable how you use a simple background, narrow depth of field and natural side lighting.
Best regards,
Sand.

The simple composition and the beautiful ambient light makes this photograph a truly outstanding work in this site!.
Hope to see more from you !
Best Regards
Sand
