Hi Rew,
Strong image. The B&W enhances the cold reality of the situation and helps to enhance the stark communication.
The relatively shallow DOF forces one's eye onto the subject and obliges one to face the message.
Very good work.

Jeri,
Lovely album so far! Lots of critiquing opportunities.

What an image! Huge empty space - with an arrow to guide one's eye to a scene open to much personal interpretation.
LOVE IT!

Hi Jeri,
I saw it... and I was stunned.
Beautiful.... no masterful! Composition is perfect and the light on the boat and the darkness of the surrounds is almost unthinkable.
Great work!

Hi Mae,
Amazing range of colours with a stark silhouette.
And life just keeps on going, beautiful sky or not. Past neccessities of old are being built the neccessities of now.

Hi Sunandan,
We have lots of beggars in Africa too. Their plight is often a cause of irritation for us.
This image, with its grainy character, is a fantastic view into their world. Look at the child - reching to look at what is given - his eyes fixed on the hand of the giver.
What a place to start your life!

Hi Kristof,
Amazing image. The signs of human intervention in nature to the untouched article in the background.
The lines make it a strong image and it softens further back. Your choice of B&W was the right one. Great work!

Mr. Durante,
I like Jimmy Durante, the musician from years ago, because his piano playing was not polished and perfect, but it had a lot of soul and it was honest and rich. And his voice complimented his style. Unfettled and emotionally rich.
If Sieff or Newton (not that it was totally their style) published a picture like this in one of their books, it would have been raved about. (Sieff probably would have) Critics would have seen some emotional event in his life and made lots of comments about how the master shares his feelings with us through a soulful and deeply moving image like this. And raved some more about meeting him in NYC once..... and on.... and on...
We, untill we reach Lens God status, make verbal amends for the blurry nature or the odd cropping. It does, however, reflect our estimation of our own work, when we post it - as it is, like you did.
And I applaud this posting. I can look at it and enjoy the character and your view of it and say I see it in the same light as a posting by a master. And although it is not polished and perfect, like Durante's music, it communicates a lot of emotion and sense of occasion.
Thanks for Sharing
Dirk
