I really like this Mirella. Beautiful, soft and mysterious. Yes one can easily see the formation of the petals and how they resemble a pair of lips. I very much like the dark background. It would have been so easily to make the background white and bright but the black really enhances the softness. Makes it very feminine. Well done.
Pretty bird. I agree with Jonathan that a tighter crop would be good. Perhaps it would benefit from a slight off centre position Have the bird look into the frame. you could try in in a photo editing program
Country side is lovely. You have good contrast and Depth of Field and very little to distract the eye away from the main focal point. What you could try is to frame the picture a bit differently. Rather then having the object in the centre, in this case I would suggest an off-centre position, with the cows more to the right in the picture and more landscape to the left. This will create a diagonal line and make it appear as if the cows are looking into the landscape. It is not much one can do about an overcast sky but if you have an opportunity to take a similar picture during the early morning of afternoon on a sunny day it would be well worth it.
The focal point, DoF, saturation and contrast are all fine. The one thing which distract me is the line of shade going down from the brush in the middle of the picture. If it is possible to move the brush so that you can exclude this you will have a winner.
Really love this low key shot. I have to tell my friend to bring me along when her horse need new shoes ;) Great composition too. The smoke adds drama together with the low key. Great job!
What a lucky shoot Brian! Really nice. If it wasn't for the slight grain/blur it would have made a great print. Might still be nice as a print though. If nothing else, a nice memory! The light on the dear is very nice. What was your focal length? I never have my camera with me when these things happen...
Following suite on my former critique. this is a good example of what i mention i felt was lacking. Here we can see what has caught the attention of the dogs which makes the photo more interesting.
Former speakers are correct in that he do stand out against the blue background. However, since the background per say is quite uninteresting i would have preferred to see a bit more of the face of the dog. Now i don't know what the dog is looking at, what has caught his attention etc. Had their been some kind of landscape or an object the composition would have been more interesting. Now i am wondering, what is so fascinating... Exposure etc are all good, I just find it lacking a bit in the composition.
I am sorry to read you lost your little darling. It is always hart breaking when pets move on... Sure was a cute one and i can see the playfulness in her eye. You did very well with the exposure, getting both the white and the black right. job well done!
Indeed these trees do like hte cold...or atleast they dont mind it as much as i do. It looks as it was a very nice day. Doesnt look cold at all. A good photo for teh theme.
