[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After a long absence, Diana, Tongan beauty and the gutsy star of my Dressed In White series, returned for a less gruelling assignment.

This one just involved sitting on a deck chair in a sarong under the lights while I experimented once again with a white background.

90% there, I think ... it's a little off-white still, but after playing with levels, contrast, saturation and some help from the clone tool, I arrived at this.

Thoughts and feedback, as always, welcomed.

Looks like a studio shot, huh! Sharp enough.

Hi Rew. A fine composition in this relaxed position. The big sunnies help to promote the laid back relaxed look. I like it a lot. I guess some trekers could use this and drop in the Greek isles or somewhere like that behind the lady and make it a very enticing advertisement. Good result. Murray.

Hello Rew!

Great balance of light !I wonder if you could manage blending it successfully with a beach scene (^_^).

Might suggest only to take away the spotlight in her sunglasses.

This session was indeed a bit easier for Diana !
Keep on the hard work
Cheers!
Robert

Hi rew,
99% there I would say. You have your lighting sussed out now. You did very well with the white chair against the white background.
I feel very relaxed, just looking at it.
Well done again,
Pete.

Excellent work Rew.... she just needs a cocktail in her hand, and some sand at her feet..:-)

Would love to see her in this colourful sarong on a beach, on a summers day.

regards
Dawn.

great colours against white background.
lighting is good.
Still some details in backdrop sheet that poss little more contrast would remove and should clone light off sunglasses.

Ahhh, the white background is perfect for this type of summery bright shot. I love the very different type of cropping and framing you used for this portrait of Diana (horizontal), and the diagonal pose of her body in the deck chair really creates a strong composition. That colorful sarong and the lime-green chair fit perfectly together and what I love about this is the nice shines and highlights on her skin, especially the shins, sarong, and a subtle one on the right forearm. Great reflection of the bright light on those big sunglasses ;) She certainly looks pleased to be lying comfy and dry in that warmer studio, hehe. Excellent tones and contrasts and I cannot at all sense any wrinkles or folds or inconsistencies in the white background. And very sharp and crisp. Really good framing and cropping with a tad more negative space at the top edge than on the bottom. Really wonderful, TFS!

Hey Rew
Apart from the ugly dress... Great shot!!
Now you can start using photoshop and put here on a real beach ;)
Light is great and love the negative space.
Well done
David

The canary that swallowed the cat. (for anyone that cant figure that one, any cat can swallow a canary but......)
Well done both of you, this is beautiful and as so many have said look at all the things that could be done with the shot. Thanks Diana for giving Rew the chance not to freeze you again.

technically the quality of your work is superb as always, there is some story beneath as well; there is, however, sth I miss here: emotions... I guess it was not your aim (?)
cheers - Tomasz

Fantastic colours!! Lots of detail. (including the bar code on the down tube below the left hand armrest)...which I like. Very good technically and once again a lot of work which in the case of this shot has really been worth the effort. The composition and the crop are great. I love the different levels. If you split the frame into thirds horizontally the thirds idea works really well. Legs, body, head.
Its funny, the initial impact is stunning but the more one looks the less satisfying in some ways. Wonderful work as always but not quite my thing.
Mike

Rew if this is (0% I can't wait to see the 100%. The white background equals a quality contrast. Diana is enjoying the "hard" work. I'll be waitng for the next ones.

Hi Rew

Good sharpness, & the color really stands out against the high key toned bg. The diagonal of the woman adds dynamism. Tfs!

Hey Rew, you got a white backdrop too :D

Great shot! Super light you created. Looks as if she is outside under a clear blue sky and shining sun.

Colours look great against the white background.

Great shot!

Cheers,
Jens

Hi Rew - the colours are fantastic, and your exposure looks spot on. I think if the background had been pure white you would have lost the contrast of the white chair legs in the image

Hello Rew.
Pls, dont tell Diana, I missed this wonderfull picture of you. haha
I like to join her there, whatever the 'background'is. !
Cheers, and Big Smiley from Jan

wow rew this shot is very cool, she looks very relax. The trouble only lies on the white spot on her sunglasses what was that? It is very distracting I guess...

Hello Rew,

Your composition is fabulous. Simple subject and without much mess, thus, total attraction. Excellent idea has been presented my friend. Well done.

Thanks for sahring this image.

ah the white background. completely the opposite of the black but when used properly brings the same colorful contrasts. perfect exposure Rew.

Excellent compo and vivid colors, pleasantly contrasting with the white BG. Very interesting light experiment.

Andreea

I like the idea indoor beach :)

Hello Rew,
Here, Diana is all but dressed in white ;o). Not as poetic as your "dressed in white" series, but still an excellent result.
I particularly like the combination of her colourful clothes with the white, minimalistic setting. It not only makes your model pop out, but that omnipresent white (together with the good lighting) has some suggestive force in it: Diana lying in the sun under a palm tree. We don't see it, but we FEEL it.
TFS & kind regards,
Erik
