This is not a sandpiper but those who remember Kathleen will know why this photo made me think of her. Kat was a treasured member of this community who passed away last year. And it still seems so strange to have known someone so well without ever having met - thanks to the internet and TrekLens.

As to the photo it is a souvenir from a recent trip to Sharm El Sheik where the beauty of the sunrise matches the beauty of the desert that matches the beauty of the underwater world that matches the beauty of the sunsets. So I may well be back with a few more shots from that particular trip. The bird is a heron I guess.

I had to rotate to get the horizon level, then crop and saturate before resizing and sharpening. With the Panasonic Lumix FZ50 which is a great camera you also often have to use a digital noise filter as well in the post processing. And then of course I added a frame - for our Sandpiper.

Hi Per,
Very Beautiful sunset and silhouettes
Best Wishes,
Deniz.

Lovely golden colours particularly like the golden path in the water made by the sun. You've handled the exposure really well considering the sun is in the shot.

Thanks for sharing

Andrew

This is a very beautiful photograph. It is also very eye catching because of the color a nd the moon. Very well done.

Amazing shot. The quality of the picture is not great, but I like the sun and the bird. I think you did a very good job here. Well done. Ed

Hi Per,

Yes, it is sad and strange that we know her so well and yet never meet. Still feel really sad when I think of her, I suppose it is just the way she is and her personality. :)

Good photo, I like your composition here, nice colours and reflection, nearly 2/3 of the sea with beautiful goldern reflection of the sun. Well captured, thanks for sharing

Cheers,
Sweety

Another sudden return to TL... welcome back, Per. Yes, I can perfectly connect this shot to Kat... it's been over a year now, and she's still in my thoughts regularly.
Nice silhouette and an excellent capture of the sun too.
TFS!

Welcome back Per, it's a pleasure to see you haven't forgotten completely about us. How are you these days?
This is a great composition, and quite a nice memorial to Kat. Many of us still remember her so well. I like the golden colours.
