Treklens we are in the Royal Palace of Egypt.

We are in the Palace of former King Faruk of Egypt in the town: Alexandria.

Alexandria, the second-largest city in Egypt was founded by Alexander the Great in 334 BC.

Faruk, son of King Fu'ad 1, was king of Egypt from 1936, until he was overthrown in 1952.

Early in his reign, subjects were optimistic, but he did not mange to cooperate with the opposition (Wafd and the Nationalist Party). At the same time, the Egyptian administration became more and more corrupt and ineffective while Egypt faced serious economic problems.

Faruk also became infamous for his life style, involving night clubs and casinos in Europe, sexual affairs and an enormous collection of pornography.

So in 1952 he had to leave Egypt to find refuge (I think it was in Italy ) and died in 1965

Another detail the 'older' persons might remember: He had a Sister, Soraya, who was married with the Sjah of Persia..

Anyway, when we came to visit the Palace ( its well maintained!!) we where so lucky our guide had an
acquaintance, a very nice atractive Lady, who worked there and we where treated as real 'Royal Guests'.

You can see here some refreshments offerd by this young 'Caballero' .. and the smile came on his face after I told him of all the atractive Treklens Ladies; able to see his photo.
So Ladies.. he is yours....

The Palace .. as a bottom line, is now a conference place annex museum

Thanks and a Royal salute this time Folks

John T

Hi John :)
Wonderful idea with the frame, what gave the effect to the three-dimensionality.
He really is serving this drink! :-)
Only to reach in order can drink your health :-)
Splendid work, TFS

A friendly person who serves nice drinks .... will always work on TL ! ;-)
Great lighting and colors. Good POV however, he is missing one ear, but oke.
Good sharpness, and .... especially ..... good seen and a good posting.
greetings,
Joop!

You got my attention. Attractive guy, some nice wine. The blue against the white works well. Lovely outfit. The only sad part is that I had to find out I am "old". I remember seeing pictures of Soraya ( I was very small though). She was /is a very beautiful woman. I remember thinking she was the ideal woman. Very pretty, stylish, married to the sjah, obviously rich etc... It was long , long ago...

Brown skin, blue shirt, red wine and a nice smile - all against a white background, a good composition. the light coming in so strongly from the left wasn't easy to handle I guess. It came out well, though the image is slightly soft. I love your story! Well done. - Cordelia :) :)

Hi John!
Great picture, fantastic experiment with the border.
I like this very much...Good colors and nice contrast,too.....
Tfs,Jonas

hey John,

i like this pic alot very expressive it could be even an excellent material for an tv ad :)

can i correct something concerning the historical notes if you dont mind, Soraya Esfandiary was the second wife of Shah Iran(Persia) and she wasn't kings Farouk's sister but she was from one of a well known Persian familys back then(there is a movie by her name Soraya). On the other hand the Shah's first wife princess Fawzia was kings Farouk's sister.

hope this clarification is of help here :)

HI
THIS IS JUST TO CORRECT THIS
"Another detail the 'older' persons might remember: He had a Sister, Soraya, who was married with the Sjah of Persia.."
IN FACT HER NAME WAS NOT SORAYA BUT FAWZYA; SORAYA WAS PERSIAN ALSO
