[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The sphinxes of Egypt are mythical creatures, seen as guardians in the Egyptian statuary.

Sphinxes are depicted in one of these three forms:
•Androsphinx - body of lion with head of person;
•Criosphinx - body of lion with head of ram;
•Hierocosphinx - body of lion with head of falcon or hawk.

Those in the photo, «Criosphinx», had been found embedded in the ground of a very poor quarter in Luxor, from where they were exhumed of the soil and placed lined up with many others in both sides of the entrance of the »Temple of Karnak» (in Luxor), in a way world-wide known as the SPHINX AVENUE.

And I can tell you my TL friends, that SPHINX AVENUE is a magic, monumental, and amazing way to cover.

Good week end for all, mb.

Hi Jose

Impressive photo, I like your POV and choice of monochrome for this composition.

I toured Egypt in 1990, I have a posted on TL a few of my photos, and Luxor was my favourite location to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed myself there and I remember well the Avenue of Sphinxes...it is awesome leading up to the Temple of Karnak.

Thanks for the wonderful memories and TFS this photo.

Martyn

Em relação à foto acho que conseguiste a luz perfeita para tal, e o B/W mais uma vez deu o Mood e o sentido de antigo à foto. Parabéns amigo
