| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hakeen is a refugee from Uganda living in Egypt. He is an amazing rap artist, but it will be difficult for him to crack into the music industry giving his status.
When I was in Cairo purely on a holiday, I met an American guy working with refugess and recording their rap talents. I offered to take photos of them and we arranged to meet them at their appartment one night. The guys were great - so nice and welcoming - and we borrowed a bulb light from the mechanic across the street to take these shots in their dark appartment.
In photoshop ive added the fire (from a photo of a fire i took from my felucca boat ride on the Nile one night) and also composited in a damaged wall which I shot in Cairo on a bright sunny day. So there are 3 elements to this shot. I hope you like it. |

Great portrait.
Nice pp work. Suits the rap star well as does the lighting.
Only issue I have is the eyes are out of focus. It does give him a bit of a hazy look which is nice but I think I'd still rather have them be sharp.
Is this shot in natural light?

Very strong portrait. Great use of PP to add the flames, to give impact. The lighting is excellent - although his right eye (our left) looks a little odd because part of the sclera is hidden in shadow. Just a minor detail though, this is a great shot.
