The photo was taken in high noon, when very bright sun shined(well, as always there). I got big problem to do something with large contrast.I've already put it on TL, but I tried to recover it's quality and just played with PS.
Here's old note:
"I called him pseudo, because he both didn't look and behave like a typical Afar :)
Afars are always armed, they have knifes or shotguns and try to look dangerously. This one had only a stick in his hand and was very friendly. We had a three hour chat with him. Unfortunatelly he spoke only in his language, so I don't know what he was talking about... :D"
...and there's old photo. |

A very interesting photo. I think the lights actually help emphasize his caution, or distance, or uncertainty about what's happening. Fascinating. Not easy to view it at length because there is a degree of... what is it? apprehension? something unexpected might happen? Not a robust face, yet very strong features, a personality both representative of his culture and individual enough to be impossible to see as 'just another tribesman'. I certainly feel like he keeps his eyes on me. His mind was probably racing to come up with some sort of a theory as to what you were doing and for what end. The scene that comes to mind is when in Cien An~os de Soledad the Gypsies bring ICE to Macondo. Noone has ever seen it. This guy is seeing something he has never seen. Despite the high contrast, fantastic detail. Good note.

good high key portrait and well composed, still hold detail well in the skin and hair, points later
