[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken on a Mombassa beach, the beach hawkers are trying to make a living from the tourists staked out on the beach. Although an interesting and colourful subject for photography they can be very annoying, surrounding tourists everytime they venture near the sea for a dip. It is my understanding they have now been banned from the beaches and replaced with licensed stallholders. Quieter maybe, but not so photogenic.

I scanned this from a 35mm negative and did some PP to clean up the image, crop and resize using Photoshop CS.

Bonjour,
Décidemment, il y a des lieux où la vie semble plus difficile que chez nous !
Bonne journée.

Nice colourful image Roger, you have done well to eliminate the noise that normally occurs with scanned images.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Roger,

What a wonderful moment you captured.
Luckily our experience with beach-hawkers (I didn't know that's how you call them) was only pleasant and very informative. The only time we were fed-up with them was in Barbados. They asked where we were coming from and when we told them the Netherlands they immediately wanted to sell us hash.

This picture looks like a great and colorful painting you want to hang on your wall and remember the tropics.
Regards
Els

Some nice elements in this shot Roger
Good colours and metering, although there is some slight overexposure in the shine on her face and the sand in the foreground, overall it's about right.
Great use of the telephoto lens to isolate your point of focus, and good placement of her within the frame.
The sharpness isn't great I have to say, did you add sharpening after resizing?
A nice shot, TFS
