Early in the morning on the river Niger. We passed the boat. You are rich when you have a boat. You are more rich when you have a sail on your boat. So .. in this case the boats man was somewhere in between rich and very rich ...
Poor, rich it's just related to your frame of reference ... We could think he is not rich but poor, well ... he is rich.

What an amazing opportunity to visit Tombouctou! I really love the natural lighting used here, it does really feel like morning. It made me think of the beautiful summer mornings in Senegal, how fresh, calm, and yet rejuvenating they were. Thanks for bringing back good memories :). Excellent clarity, good detail, I love the exposure and the subtle colors and tones in the shot. Great compo with the boat off-center, and heading towards the emptier spot in the photo, making the viewer wonder where the boat might gently amble next. Perhaps I would have left a little more negative space above the boat since that tall large sail leads the eye up the shot, but the eye has nowhere to go. Otherwise just lovely. TFS!
