Every traveller has to wait sometimes. sometimes, especially in africa you have to wait longer. sometimes for no reason, sometimes for a reason.
i wonder how long every person has to wait for something in his life. we wait for the alarm clock to ring, we wait until the coffee is finished, we wait for the subway to come, we wait for emails, calls, letters. we wait until the waitress (haha) serves the dinner, we wait for someone coming home, we wait for the lights going out, we wait until our time has come.
Every tourist that drives through westafrica on his own connects nouamghar with "waiting". the stage between nouamghar and nouakchott can only be driven on low tide. you have to catch the exact moment to bring your vehicle on the piste, our you loose.
as usual the waiting there isn't without any people making trouble - for sure, except for fishing and tourism they have no other income there. what i liked there this year was, that our group consisting of five people was recognized by a girl selling doughnuts. "je conne d'anne 2004" - and she also knew, that there were two new people with us.
the calm moment i catched here isn't really usual, but i think we stayed there for about 4 hours and all the cadeaus were passed to the kids so we decided to have a nap on the beach. i just woke up when i did this shot (you see my t-shirt on the right, i had the camera on my breast) because i heard people talkin. forian, the man in the center, was painting fish and other things into the sand, surprisingly for us that the boys all knew these things in english also.
