Hello Chris,
welcome to TL! Very good start imho - you have chosen a very nice shot to post. Lovely composition with well exposed closer tree. Nice waves on the sand leading to the tree and into the photo. Lovely shadows coming from low angled sun I guess. Two small bushes in front are enough to break monothony of this part of the photo. Interesting background formed by the single dune emerging from horizon. The contrast between the sand and the sky is stunning. Great start Chris!

welcome to TL...impressive first post...i like the great contrast between the golden brown sand/tree and the blue sky...great composition and sharpness...the lines/shadows in the sand leading to the tree are almost hypnotic...great capture...peace***

Nice composition and the sunset gives a great texture to the sand. The contrast between the sky and ground is definitely a plus! I'd say A+ ! :)

The blue and red work really well together. The texture in the sane is really effective as are the leafless branches against the deep blue sky. I like the inclusion of the two shrubs. However, the horizon cutting the image in half doesn't work as well for me, I would have liked it higher, less sky more of the interesting textures of the sand. The early morning or late afternoon lighting is really effective here. Quite a beautiful image.

Well, timed for the time of the day - adds so much warmth and mood with the richer colours to the image. Also adds impact with the textures on the ground created by low-level lighting. Composition, FG & BG all works well, especially the (I assume) two grasses in the FG. A bit funny for me to see such large DOF on F4?
