Hi David,

I found it amazing that you didn't use a CP, the sky is fabulous. A really excellent shot, with nice contrasts and perfect light management. The repetition of dead trees is well captured, I get thirsty just looking at this.

This is the most surreal-looking landscape! The stark lines of the dunes - where dark meets light, where the sky meets the sand, and those trees ... the little ones in the back look like they could have been photo-shopped in there!! Great contrasting colors.
Such a simple, yet really effective composition. Great shot David!

Although I've seen many photos of this place. Seeing more will never bother me. This place is just special.
I like the way you got close to the tree and use it and its shadow to balance the composition. The exposure is superb, without making the shadows black or the highlight too bright. Love the texture in the dirt and tree.

vibrant composition,I like your POV. The placement of the tree in the foreground with its strong shadows, is really vibrant,though I would not have had its branches touching the edge,but that's me & takes nothing away from this excellent image.It surprised me the difference in colours of the foreground sand,compared to that of the background sand. Perfect blending of colours & that blue sky just ties it all together.One of my favourite photographers is Freeman Patterson & your image reminds me of his work.Very well done congratulations.

Surrealistic image! Salvator Dali could have taken this decor for his painting: "Persistance de la mémoire" with the soft watches! Excellent rendering of the backlighting. In addition of the clever management of the light, the force of this image is its uncluttered and artistic composition.

lately i've developed a special liking for shadows in compositions... and yours is a remarkably simple one. the colors offer a very nice contrast which is very pleasing to the eyes. the shadows offer not only visual appeal but a great deal of aesthetic appeal as well :)

the tree and the shadow from top left to down right is good looking, a beautiful harmony of lines, a great subject

Splendidly presented David , one of the best of its kind , this is a wonderful place to hang around in with a camera in hand , your dead trees are winners here , their dark trunks add form , shape and contrast in the shot. How weird to see the trees in the BG as if planted there in small number on that specific spot of the vlei ,the dunes close off the landscape majestically against the purest of blue. Good job,

I really like the shadows in this image and what they add to the image. The image also has a lot of depth due to the smaller background trees and the steep hills. Great shot!
