Cool Dunes
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This view from the north of Sandwich Harbour was taken from the top of a tall dune. It was late in the afternoon as the mist from the sea starts rolling in.
This part of the desert, close to the cold Benguela current is usually cool. The harshness of the heat of the sun, cooled by the breeze from the ocean.
What attracted me was the subtlety of the of the light reflected from the dunes, the soft shadows and hues and the softness of the dappled light through the mist. It is a different personality to the one I portray in "Triangle Detail".
And in the foreground, as always, plants trying to make a living in this, rather unforgiving, habitat.
PP: slight crop, slight shadow adjustment and framed. |

Hi Dirk,
And as far as the eye can see the dunes keep roling on and on and on...
A lovely natural capture.
