Aloe dichotoma = quiver tree or kokerboom, species of aloe.
Normally they grow in solitude but this one is shot at the Quiver tree forrest near Keetmanshoop, Namibia.

Not sure about the framing. Posted another in WS. Hope you'll tell me which one you favor. Thnx.

Hi Edwin
Great silhouette of the trees with a fantastic sky as bg. I prefer the posted one with the black border. I find that borders are actually quite nice when posting or on a screen but sometimes when printed they do not always work. Anyway very beautiful posting. TFS

Hi Edwin, Interesting photo. I love the colors in the sky and how you changed it w/saturation, filters, etc.. It's quite striking.

I prefer this black frame compliments the photo more than the white. I find the white is a distraction to me.

tfs, Lisa

i like the colors and the subject, great pov.i would have used a thiner fram

Nice capture Edwin, and an amazing tree: the only aloe I know are small shrubs, this is huge! Good POV and a nice take with the sinking sun peeking through its leaves.
Well done

this is a postcard, stunning contrast of marvelous silhouette against orange colours. simply beautiful, Edwin

Hi Edwin,
This is a fantasic shot, the colours are so beautiful, the way you have caught the sun through the tree.
I like this framing much better than your WS. Black with the oranges looks much better.

Hoi Edwin,
Hans

A different perspective on the Quiver tree that would make a nice wall hanging. For those not familiar with these amazing trees I will post a colour photo to my portfolio today. Thank you for sharing this one!

Hello Edwin, this really is a very well executed sillhouette. The tree has real presence and provides suitable interest. The sky is amazing. If I had to suggest a way to improve this photo I think that including more of that amazing sky and less of the black foreground would work a treat. Very well done on this!

Hi Edwin,

You would know that I would critique this image.

Once the desolate beauty of Namibia has grabbed you, it is forever! The place does not let go.

Look at this image - what could be more telling. The sun setting and the cool of the evening descending like a blanket over the scorched earth.

Wonderfully warm colours and great POV and compo. The image tells the story.

BEAUTIFUL!!

TFS
