A wonderful capture of this scene with that oval pond with a fantastic reflection of sunset.
Great composition with the tree on one side balanced by the pond on the other.

These colors are so awesome, there are not many places in the world where this kind of beautiful bright colors can be seen with such clearly. The puddle is an eye catcher, together with the tree it creates a well balanced composition. A feast for the eye my friend.

I love the colours of this photo. For a handheld long exposure, this is pretty good, although there is some blurring in the photo which spoilts it somewhat.

Wow! Kind of lost for words .. those colors in the sky are so fantastic ... it just looks like a most peaceful place. Did you get any shots once the animals started to come around? Would love to see some of those too.
"..slaking" their thirst - that's not a word I'm familiar with. My new word of the day :)

Hi David,
I know this photographer who has a saying: When it isn't sharp, call it art. You handheld job was great and the slight movement gave it that artful feel. I like the simplicity of the composition and the very beautiful colors in the sky and pool. As Hans wrote, there aren't many places where sunrises and sunsets are this beautiful.

Hi David,

Nice sunset shot. Few elements to make a simple effective compostion. Nice nuances in the sky. At first I thought your FG was too dark on TL. So I saved it to see how Shadow-Highlight would improve it, and it look ok in Photoshop Element at the office. I often have the same problem home. My monitor is calibrated with a Spyder monitor calibrator, and when I process my image in PS to my taste it often look darker on TL or just Windows Explorer screen. I guess PS don't use the same color environement than other application.

Anyway, this is a real nice shot with deep saturated colors " à la Pete Turner ". Just hope you know this photographer, he was famous from the 60's and after (http://www.peteturner.com). TFS.

Simplicity at it's finest - The colours are incredible. Like a fire on the horizon, almost expect to see a bunch of running horses (or in this case, elephants) in the scene :). I think you've done a very good job to keep the camera still with the selected settings - Great work as always.

I cannot imagine being surrounded by this beautiful scene. It's gorgeous. I like the silhouette of the tree placed to the left of the composition. The reflection of the sun setting in the water hole is really a neat effect in the photo. You have more nerve than I ever would visiting a place like this. WOW! Lisa

this combination of evening sky, lone tree and round pond in the setting light condition is excellent.
whole view is very quiet and calm, the air and its colors are so clean and beautiful in this peaceful ambience.
the shining horizon and the earth in shadow make settled and wonder depth in my mind,
