The rare flightless dung beetle is king of the road in Addo, with signs warning visitors that this recycling machine has right of way. The beetles are only seen when conditions are not too hot and not too cold and play an important role in recycling nutrients and helping the growth of thicket vegetation.

These beetles are enormous and move around almost robot-like. They are really fascinating to watch :-) |

Hi Rute,
Awesome macro! So crisp and clear. It's dark shell really stands out against the light ground. It gets put into perspective by the small plant in the soil too. Perfect composition, the lighting is nicely controlled at the same time. Great to look at, but would hate to wake up with one in my bed! Lol.
TFS,
Scott.
