Cape sparrow were sitting on a branch in the Kgalagadi, but something gave them a fright
and they flew away, only to comeback to the
same spot within a few seconds.
Below them is a waterhole.

Hiya BEn

Fab action capture here, good colour and details and excellent sharpness especially on the central bird. Nice colours and I am sitting here imagining the chirping that went along with the brief flight.

TFS regards Helen

Excellent capture of the flying birds!Good use of the shutter speed!Clever!

Hi Ben - i nearly never opened the thumbnail, but i'm very glad I did! The thumbnail didn't jump out in any way, it looked a little bland - no offence intended. But..WOW! Opening up the full image revealed a beatiful photograph - this is great stuff. The different positions/stages of flight from the flock really are interesting and a genuine delight. Very nice shot!

hi ben,
like very much the slow shutter speed and the motion in this picture !
a great composition with natural creamy/brownish colour tones.
well done !

Great capture. You are obviously always ready for a bit of action. I really like the effect of the blurred wings. You can tell they are ready to get out of there!!! Great composition.

Just an amazing shot! Love the motion blur from each bird! Really nice shot, that sigma looks like a fun lens....I just purchased the Sigma APO 70-200mm DG EX 2.8... I can't wait to get it!

Hallo Ben,
Sometimes you can only say Fantastic......
how you captured them in flight.
Those sparrows are much more beautiful then the dutch ones!
And yes I surely do enjoy this. It's good that Kgalagadi is semi-desert, because then you have a much better view around you - must be on our to-go list then. We were worried that it had been raining non-stop as it had in Bloemfontein during the time you were there - but obviously not.

Hi Ben

I love this! great colours, light and movement. It is a beautiful image. Quite typical of all sparrows as well. I have common garden sparrows in my back garden and they have a favorite shrub that they all sit in.

Hi Ben!
Lovely timing with this visual full of action. The color-tone is just magnificient and the wings form a beautiful formation in this shot!
Very nice photo! Congrats and thanks for sharing !
Cheers :D

Great action shot Ben!
I love the exitment of the photo. great timing
well done,

Ben, I am enjoying this very much. I love the motion captured of the wings. An awesome sight to see so many of the same bird in one photo. At first glance I thought you should have had more space on the left but now I'm thinking no, this portrays more of the sense that they are leaving. Glad they came though:) They contrast very nice with the background, standing out very nice. A very pleasant view Ben.

Hi,

Awesome capture of these little birds. Excellent timing and the contrasting colours really make this capture stand out. I also love the motion on the wings. Great action shot. Seems like they all came to an agreement and now they on a mission :-) Definitely a fave for me.
