[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo while on another bird hunt, here in the Kalahari.
At first, i did not even see the bird, cause it sits so still, and it is such a small owl.
The size is smaller than a dove, and this is the smallest of our common owls in South Africa.
The sexes are alike, and immatures resemble the adults.
This bird has the habit of flicking its tail when it is alarmed.
It hunts(quite often during the day in winter)from a perch, diving fast with whirring wings and short glides, striking its prey(insects, mice and small birds)with its legs.
I hope you like the photo, and needles to say that this is for the bird lovers.
Greetings
Jan

you should put this on treknature they would love it, it is a perfect image and pose though i may have put the bird on the right, though you might not been able to, so what made you chose this pov?

Hi Jan,

Really Well taken.

This owl looks so innocent. ;)

A little more cropping from the right will make it look better bcz there is nothing interesting on the right.

Everything else is fine.

Well hunted and TFS.

Cheers,

Beautiful capture, Jan.
I agree with others, the right side of the shot is needless, even the composition looks OK (from my opinion).
But if you cut it, the emphasis will be directly on the owl and thatīs the point! :-)
Overall amazing shot with great sharpness, I love her pose.

Hello Jan,

Very sharp photo. I liked the colors tones here, all earthy and makes the eyes of owl to look so bright. Well composed photo. TFS
