A view of Table Mountain at dusk, sun set about 20 minutes before this. The photo is taken from the first floor balcony of the V&A Mall on the V&A Waterfront looking northwest. A long exposure means that the crowds of people in the area to the bottom of the photo are just blurred streaks.

RAW, clone out dust spots and resize with frame.

30 seconds at f16, IS0100.

Edited to add that the image should have saved at 300kb but for some reason it's a much smaller file size! Sorry it's not such a good quality shot because of this!!!!

Hi David,
Despite the low size an attractive nocturnal impression. Like the greenish light in the foreground. The ghost images on the street creates a intrigue mood. I don't observe any lacking of sharpness (except for the people walking by). See you used ISO100, is your D200 also able to go a few steps below ISO200? Anyway in my opinion this is a fine picture David.

Very nice night photos. I like this photos.
Regards Zoran

grt night shot David the details are sharp and the the forground is like Hans says moody and atmospheric
tfs regards bryan

Hi David,

I like what you did. Using a long exposure to make the people like ghosts. I always have difficulty in making photo's in the dark. The smaller size isn't a problem imo.

regards, willie

Hello, David -
Fantastic night scene - the high F-stop creates the wonderful star patterns around the lights. The buildings and trees are sharp and clear; I like the ghostly blurred hints of the people. The mountain serves as a spectacular background. Exceptional image.

Super sharp work David! I love the green glow here, the bit of feeling of movement, with the people walking around. I feel there is a slight tilt to the left, not sure if it affects the shot or not, just a tic of mine! Nice work!

Hi David,
This is still look good on this size even though surely will look great in bigger size. I think this is the first time I saw the photo of Table Mountain this way. Well impressed! Thanks for your useful note.
Sincerely, Imelda

Your trademark blue-hour shot ... love the green glow from the street lamps on this one, and the twinkle of the lights. Great view of Table Mountain in the background.
Nice one David.

Hi David,
Impressive place and POV!
Very interesting mix of the fluo green/yellow light and the deep blue sky. I like much this colored harmony. The dark table mountain makes a nice counterpoint between these two plans.
Reading your title, I think the name is often used in many countries. We have a mountain near of my home with the same one!
Cheers! Annie

dear David,
a mysterious atmosphere is very nice,
dark Table Mountain and fore yellow lights are making beautiful contrast at dusk,
and also it shows us vivid contrast between the natural view and human activity there.
whole image is both fantastic and cheerful so much.
thank you,
Akihisa
