[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yet another image of my series taken on the Drakensberg tour. While walking through the field there is a lot of wildlife to admire, like this bright red and blue fellow. The DOF is not as good as I would like, but in low light conditions and camera hand-held, I think this one is fair.

PP: Cropped, USM, border.

Hi Markus

I like the unusually colored blue & red grasshopper. Here, they are green or brown. Excellent sharpness & dof. Bravo!

great! so sharp and clear, and the colours, superb shot!

Hi Markus.
Beautiful macro.

Jaime Bahia.

What a colourful beast and there is nothing wrong with the DOF. Cheers G

surprenantes et très belles couleurs.

Hi Markus,

I think on the other hand that your DOF is great, the subject is totally in focus, what more would you want? I would have cropped more on the lefthand side so that the grass hopper fills the frame. But excellent photo. He posed well, I tried to take a photo of one of these but it was constantly shying away from me. :)

Regards
Conrad

Hi Markus.

Would never have realised that a creature on this planet existed with colours so vivid. You hav ecaptured this very well for us to enjoy, you must be very pleased with this.

S.

Hi Markus,
I'm very interested in shots of insects, I also have several at TrekNature. But I've never seen such an hopper, the colours are marvelous. Excellent work, thanks so much for sharing it with us

Colorful! Now you need the fix the background a bit..
Still a great capture... Even for SA you dont see this every day.

Hi Markus,

A shot well done, especially with that slow shutter speed. I think that the DOP is fine. There is just enough detail to show the hopper in its natural environment without it taking away the focus from your subject. Anyway, with colouring like that, there are not a lot of things in the background that can compete anyway.
(I believe that these hoppers are quite toxic, so they are quite safe from any predators.)

Markus,

I love this one. A good clear close shot of this creature. Well done and keep them coming.
Lukas

Hello Markus, fascinating colours, as Chris says the grasshoppers here are either a brown or green and very dirty colours too. I think you have done well for the shot being hand held and the absence of the macro lens. Sharp enough to still be clear and good DOF. TFS
