At last something to upload again. We went to Ellisras (today known as Lephalale)in the Limpopo province last weekend (thanx to my Brother-in-law). What a great weekend we had on the game farm.

During one of the game drives, we drove past this Marula tree. Why photograph the tree? Well, while I was in the camera club many years ago we once got an assignment to photograph one tree. I then realised that it takes some skill to isolate just one tree and found it was not as easy as I initially thought it would be. Needless to say, I have been waiting, wanting, waiting, waiting, and finally I got my nest tree photo. Wooof! Just look at the ISO setting @ 1600... used ETTL-flash. One second later and the game driver's vehicle turned and the tree was behind us, gone for the rest of the day.

PP: Levels and border.

Hi Markus,

Nice scene. The flash makes the branches stand out against the background of the nights sky; great effect.

Good Job.

Cheers Pip

I like this effect it has a subtle beauty all of it's own, well done.

Very well done. The tree stands out against the dark blue of the sky. Many moons ago when I was much younger my father had a holiday farm about 40km from Ellisras on the Bostwana border. I must say then I wasn't very impressed with going to the farm every holiday but now I miss the "bos" . I still remember Ellisras when it was a real one horse town.
Thanks for the memory.

Hello Markus, this lighting on the nude tree brings a lot of mood. Very well done. With the halo. Almost spooky!

Take care, Yan :)

Great picture, I love the composition and the lighting effect with the flash. Great job !

This is a beautiful image Markus. Colours are very interesting... Different, but very nice.
Like the contrast between this tree and the rest of the image. It looks so much "stronger" than ther est!

very well done!

take care, Stef :))

Well done on finding your lonely tree. That can be difficult as you say. Good use of your flash. Well done.

Bonjour Markus,
Une photo qui me plait énormément.
J'aime particulièrement cet arbre avec la complexité de son branchage et l'unité des couleurs. Une image à la texture très intéressante et avec une atmosphère singulière.
Bravo!
Michel

This is a beautiful image . Colours are very interesting.
Regards Zoran
