Everytime I tried to photograpf one of these beautiful creatures, they just gave me a look and walk away. This particular one walked away and then stood still for a moment and gave me time for just one photo and it looks as if he thought "now do what you have to do and leave us alone" I found the next information on the internet.
Like other plain zebras, Burchell's Zebras must have populated the African plains in impressive numbers. Now extinct in the middle portion, but surviving at the northwestern and souteastern end of the distribution.
Their size is large. The color is ochery or off-white, but never pure white. The shadow stripes are usually well marked, and the leg stripes are absent or poor, and almost never complete to hooves. The mane is well developed.
Zebras have horselike bodies, but their manes are made of short, erect hair, their tails are tufted at the tip and their coats are striped.
Three species of zebra still occur in Africa, two of which are found in East Africa. The most numerous and widespread species in the east is Burchell's, also known as the common or plains zebra.
The Burchell's zebra is built like a stocky pony. Its coat pattern can vary greatly in number and width of stripes. The stripes are a form of disruptive colouration which breaks up the outline of the body. At dawn or in the evening, when their predators are most active, zebras look indistinct and may confuse predators by distorting distance. Their shiny coats dissipate over 70% of incoming heat. |

Hi, it seems to be the same with all these beautiful creatures we want to photograph, they are all camera shy! You have a nice shot, lots of detail with sharpness and good colours. Well done, Jean

Hello Tillie,
Gaan dit goed?
Baie mooi foto.
Groete,
BEn
Hi Tillie,
Your big effort was worth it. Good timing with this capture. I like the motion of the zebra, the tail adds a lot.
My only suggestion, would be to clone out the second zebra. Otherwise, good photo.
Regards,
Iris
Hi Tillie,
Helemaal mooi hoe die zebra over zijn schouder kijkt. Daily life zal je niet veel gelegenheid geven om vroeg op te staan en de wildernis in te trekken achter de zebra's aan - maar op vakantie... ook wel lekker uitrusten.
Very warm coloured skin and good use of depth of field - love what you did.
TFS
