[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I recently went away for a weekend to the fabulous Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa.

The park is the fourth largest wildlife reserve in South Africa, and has a rich array of Southern African wildlife including the Big Five. It is unfortunately probably most famous for bordering on the massive world famous Sun City hotel and entertainment complex.

On one of our game drives we got really close to a lone elephant bull. Luckily for us he was very calm and more interested in lunch than charging the Land-Rover!

I thought rather than the standard (boring) shots of an elephant, I would do something different and get a serious close-up.

Tell me what you think!

Hi Niel, great texture detail on the skin and the hairs, they are amazing creatures

hi Niel
nice shot , thanks for sharing.

Super close-up of this powerful animal. Very sharp and fine natural colours.
Best wishes,
Achim

Nice POV - unusual but I like it, I can see better how this skin look like from close... well done:)

Hi Niel,

Wow!! Amazing! Superb sharpness and detail. Maybe a bit OE in parts, but that's only a minor detail. I love elephants, in fact I've adopted one too, called Naserian, and when I see this is touches me somehow. Well done and thanks for sharing!
Greetings from Bianca.

I really like this picture. It slightly breaks with the norm of framing the whole Nelly and gives you the opportunity to take a closer look at the rough skin. I love textures and this picture does not fail to impress. I really like the detail on the skin, you captured it really well. The broken tusk also adds some character to the picture.

thats a good photo

This is truly something out of the ordinary and I like the wayyou show up that his one tusk must have been in some encounter with either a tree to hard to bring downbut more probably the one that pushed him out of the herd..
A lovely true Africa shot

TFS and also your review of my Chobe sunset photo

regards

Wia
