Came across this little chap taking a drink from an ice curtain that formed overnight. It seems a pipe had split and was spraying the fence with a water. The night temperatures went down to -6C.

Well, to begin with, I never thought the temperatures in South Africa could get chilly. I think you have a very nice and interesting image. The composition is excellent and the main subject is attractive. I wonder how long the bird stayed over the ice before it flew away to a warmer spot. The clarity is very nice and add to the good colours of the image. Qualitywise I would say this an excellent natural picture. The good placement of the bird and the balance of technical elements makes it a work of art. Thanks Cecil :-)

Hi Cecil,

This is an amazing Shot. The poor bird here is trying to get some water also i think some heat because as its really cold there knowing by your note. The bird might be sitting there for the sun now because i think he/she realized that your taking his picture but not moving because of the Cold.

Anyways as a capture looks perfect to me but in adjustments i would have added more sharpness.

But i still love it.

Hi Cecil,
A special occasion this one - having ice forming overnight and being able to capture this little fellow afterwards!
My husband alreay did tell me that it could be cold at night in FreeState. First morning there we had to de-ice our windshield - I could not believe it!
A beautiful picture with those background colours.
