[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Sporassidae Palystes Supercilliosus - commonly referredto here as the Rain Spider. I've just moved into a new house and they were quick to come and look for insects. To date I've found 5. They are relatively harmless. Their bit has the extent and consequences of a bee sting if you are healthy - so I'm told.

I use a glass box 5cm x 30cm x 25cm for photographing insects. It allows me to tilt and swivel the box so that the best shots can be taken. This shot had internal reflections that made the spider seem as ominous as something out of a nightmare - arachnophobes beware.

Ohh my god :)

Hello Cecil,
A good capture of an ugly creature!
I have many of these friends in my home too; this one must be related to the one that I posted on TL a couple of days ago! They are creepy little creatures; at my house they feel right at home by sharing my books, walls and on occasion even the bed! I recently found a gigantic one inside an antique bottle that sat on a shelf with water in it - it didn't know how to swim and...
Thanks for sharing,
Esperança

Hi cecil, nice shot, i´m afraid the spiders, great detail and color, great macro shot.

very original, it sems that you have captured it in a glass or some kind. nice experiment, your camera must have a macro function. very nice.

Hi Cecil
great detail and sharpness
I got lucky me too as I found a spider the other day who made a subject of some good macro shots.
Nice job

Hi Cecil. Good macro with a lot of details showing. The reflection adds a lot to this image. TFS. Murray.
