Lonely Boy
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Saw this boy sitting there on his own after I came back from a boattrip. For the first few seconds I just watched what he was doing, then I decided to snap him. He was completly oblivious of what was happening around him. Just in his little world.

Edwin,
A very powerful representation of a child's mind overpowered by fears and lonesomeness. Even if he was just bored, the hug is in such a contrast with the stainless steel, and then the chains... A great potential to this shot. I would change the crop, and maybe it would have been better to have the whole metal structure within the frame, but I can't tell whether this would have really worked... Also, the kid is a bit underexposed. But all of that don't matter that much, the moment is precious.
excellent mood in the photo edwin :)
a tighter crop may work better for the comp here, i feel there's a little too much empty space on the left and bottom :)
still good work

I like the mood in this one, though I agree with others about tight cropping. Maybe change the frame into classic b/w also? Anyway, good shot.

Hi Edwin
This is a strong pic. I liked it a lot. Seems like everyone suggested a tighter crop but i kind of liked the empty space around the subject as it is making the mood of loneliness more.
Thanks
Sayan
This looks so sad when we take it in context with your title and this view may well be the truth of the matter. Let's pretend that he is watching his father on a boat below or that he's watching fish in the water and that he is happier than portrayed. I feel better now.
The empty space accentuates the detachment/loneliness. Maybe there's too much space there for me. I know that I'd have cropped it much tighter. I'll attach a WS tomorrow. See what you and others think. It does change the 'perspective', though.
BTW, the blue frame does nothing for a feel of loneliness. Suggests a much happier situation? Guess what I went for!!
Hello Edwin.
Here is great shot with wonderful colours, light and mood.I like the focus on the boy and the frame too.
