small shell

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
For the scavenger hunt - smaller than a paperclip. This seashell came from the beach in Mozambique, and is small enough to slip through a paperclip - at least, if you put it sideways!
The original background was plain white, and I had to use a flash due to poor light conditions (a dull rainy day), the grading of light from the flash created the change in brightness for the background.
Heavily post processed: Cropped, adjustment of brightness/contrast, solarise filter, inverted, readjusted brightness/contrast. I then used NeatImage to create two filtered versions, one with a lot more noise reduction, brought these two versions back into photoshop on separate layers, and used the one to create the background (the one with more noise reduction), the other for the shell itself. Final touches: sharpened the layer with the shell using Luko's sharpening method, then created a simple black frame. |

Hi Kate,
Great photo. Good PP skils on display. I don't know if I like the frame.

Hi Kate,
nice idea for the hunt.
You made such interesting colours, this makes this little shell so special, thanks

Excellent PP work! Very nice color combinations, lovely glow and gradient BG.
Well done!
