In the fish market at Dar es Salaam and the women gathered around the auction table bidding for all kinds of fish - smelly but fascinating. The colour of their clothing is great...

RAW and cropped slightly...

Colourful scene and wonderful textures. The depth you managed is great. The expressions are interesting; I keep going from one face to the other.
Cheers

Joris

David this is a realy good documentry type shot just using one woman as the main point in the composition realy makes it stand out the colours are sharp and you have filed the frame well tfs
regards bryan

hello david
you have captured a colourful daily life shot with fine sharpness.
but i feel it busy, as far as i understand the focus is on the lady with the watermelon? if yes then the headroom is huge for her, the lady above her is not contributing for me in the frame. another interesting lady is the one who is biting her nail (her thoughful expressions are interesting) but she is not your main subject, and adds nothing if i see the whole shot of your's. i feel you have to reconsider the croping (my personal openion).

though i like the busy market shot which is colourful, sharp and detailed with fine light, it could be a perfect documentary film shot.

Bonjour David.
Splendides couleurs sur cette scène qui regroupe tout ces personnages.
L’expression de la femme du milieu et très fort.
Bravo pour avoir capturé cette belle ambiance.
Bonne journée.

Vibrant Colours, excellent detail, the lady eating the watermelon would give Angelina Jolie a run for her money in the Lips department :), well photographed

Lovely patchwork of colours. Very good composition with sharp details and a daker background (softly blurred) who gives depth.
Best regards
Jean

Hi David,
A very colorful presentation of these africans in their local costumes.
Great expressive characters of these ladies!
A lovely crowdy composition with fabulous details!
Great work, David.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hi David

A colourful daily life scene from Tanzania with good repetition of the women. Excellent graphism & superb use of a shallow dof. I would just burn in the very slight oe on the watermelon slice. Tfs!

Hello David,

I have read Manuj's critique and though I understand his pov, I feel that your intention was to show the colours and business of the market. In this respect, you have fulfilled the aim.
If all faces had been blurred, we might have felt a little cheated. You have given us a focal point and also a feeling of the hubbub, noise and atmosphere. I like it very much. And the face ... a priceless expression!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi David,
Yep that's it! Great POV showing the melon eating woman perfectly sharp and the background nicely unsharp but still excellent recognisible. The colours are really African, cheerful and brialliant. Again a NG worthyimage.
Hans

N.B. I wonder how you can speak about OE of a melon which less than 1% of the total area?!

hey David :)

truely colorful :) perfect sharpness and saturation mached with an interesting POV :) the light and contrast are perfect :) it's a very moody photo :)

TFS :)

allye :)

Bidding on fish and eating watermelon ... eeee!!! I think I'd leave the snacking til later :)
Great focus on the woman with the melon .. and a good colorful daily life shot again.
Great job.

Hi David,

Someone always spots the photographer!! hahaha. Nice colorful shot. I would love to have some of this colorful clothing. Very interesting myriad of fabric and design. I like how have filled the entire composition with the people as it certainly gives the illusion of a huge crowd as they are so close together, etc... (not sure if that makes sense to you, but it does ME...haha). Also, it is nice that the main character is eating food. That gives the "market" setting too. Nice, interesting shot. (I kind of wish she had given you a big smile though). :D Lisa

WOW!

Hi David,

This is a feast in African clothing colours, patterns and textures. Awesome and vibrant visual feast - I like it! The tones are amazing and captivating. At first the photo appears crowded and tight but the spectacle of all those vibrant colours and the expressions of the various ladies really do captivate me. :-)

Brilliant and realistic capture - a stunning moment and capture of an everyday African market! I can almost hear the buzz of activities and bargains being made. Awesome!

Regards and TFS,
Martyn
