Hello dear friends,

Today, for my entry in the theme, come with me in Tunisia. This country is the theatre of many
archaeological sites, vestiges of Roman civilization. The dry climate kept them in good state. Here, we are at Sbeïtla located at the center of Tunisia to 110 km from Kairouan and 295 of Tozeur.

«Sbeitla's forum is the most impressive part of the entire site with its three almost intact temples in the centre. Instead of building a single temple divided into three chapels or niches [as, for example, one finds at Dougga], the builders at Sbeitla conceived a far more grandiose project for their town and built a temple for each divinity. To give unity to the ensemble the central temple was fronted by a tribune without steps, and one acceded to the central temple through the two lateral temples; one can easily imagine the scared processions moving from each extremity of the forum and symmetrically converging on the central temple, which was more opulently decorated and adorned than the other two. The Temple of Minerva is in the best condition, while the Temple of Jupiter next to it has almost all of its walls still standing. The Temple of Juno has fared worse, but there is plenty to help you imagine what it must have looked in pristine condition».
(Ref. :http://lexicorient.com/tunisia/sbeitla01.htm, http://www.middleeast.com/sbeitla.htm)

Technically, with PS CS 3, I converted the original photo with channel mixer (red : 30%, green : 59%
blue : 11%). After that, I used Selective colors function. I chose neutral colors and added 15% of yellow. Finally, I added a little contrast and sharpen.

Thank you for your visit and comment! Have a very nice day!

Bonjour Annie

Striking geometries. The FG bricks lead the eye to the temples. The sepia makes it timeless as it should be. TFS. K2

Bonjour Annie,

This is probably as old as you can get. What a lovely composition with the 3 temples in different conditions standing next to each other. Using standard sepia function gives me a greenish brown - I love how you mixed the colour.

A fitting choice for the sepia, Annie, and an interesting change of place -- from the coast of Quebec to the shores of Africa! Wonderful lighting and sky here, and a fine presentation of form. And, of course, an interesting and informative note, as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Would you have done it in sepia, were it not for the theme? I think we do not use it often enough: there is great charm and a wonderfully nostalgic patina in sepia pictures. When I draw, I almost always see my creations in shades of brown rather than b/w.
Great view and interesting textures ... the ancient form of lego ......

Ohhhh!!!!!

In general, I'm not too fond of sepia photos - unless they're genuinly old, Annie. But this is an exception. The monochrome approach lets us focus on the buildings and their structure, not on their colours. Which is good... Taken at the correct time of day, I think... the shades are rare, but where they appear they enhance the definition of the rest.
Nice work. TFS
