Dedicated to my friend Mikolaj cava

Non si può partire se non si è stati almeno una volta in questo pittoresco villaggio a pochissimi chilometri da Tunisi. Tutti la conoscono e sanno come arrivarci. Sidi Bou è la perfetta riproduzione di un piccolo borgo arabo andaluso. Le sue origini antiche risalgono ai Cartaginesi. L'abitato prese il nome da Bou Said Khalaf el Beji, un uomo che si ritirò in preghiera attorno al 1200. Attorno alla sua tomba fu eretto un marabutto (è dietro al Café des Nattes) che divenne meta di pellegrinaggi. Quello che colpisce maggiormente è la naturale alternanza dei colori bianco e azzurro, resi particolarmente accesi dall'eccezionale luminosità del posto. Salendo per le stradine non si possono non notare le splendide bouganville fiorite ed i fiori di gelsomino. A Maggio, al culmine della fioritura saremo accompagnati nella visita da un intenso e gradevole profumo. Stupendi i portali damascati con borchie nere e colorati di azzurro così come le finestre e le porte interne. Ai piani superiori delle case sporgono graziose verande in legno lavorato, esse fungono da velo protettivo ai raggi solari ed un tempo consentivano alle donne di osservare il mondo esterno senza essere viste. Il tutto è all'insegna di una pulizia ed un decoro che lasciano di stucco. Tutto il borgo è sottoposto a vincolo conservativo e gli abitanti sono obbligati a ridipingere le case nei colori originali. La via principale porta dritto al celebre Café des Nattes che si trova in tutti i depliants turistici ed immortalato in celebri foto. Qui si può gustare un tè alla mente con pinoli; oppure al meno noto Café Sidi Chabain. Dalla sua terrazza si gode di un magnifico tramonto su Tunisi e i suoi dintorni. Solo dopo questi momenti si può capire che cosa abbia spinto personaggi famosi come André Gide e Simon de Beauvoir, il pittore Paul Klee e lo scrittore Chervantes a soggiornare in questo piccolo paradiso. Se siete qui ad Agosto non dovete assolutamente perdere la festa religiosa della Kharja, tra le più importanti della Tunisia. Tutto il borgo è invaso da varie confraternite che ricordano così l'eroico sacrificio dei martiri islamici caduti per mano dei francesi nel 1271.

Hi Lucio,

The more photos I view on TL, the more I have become interested in the typical architecture of homes in various countries. The color blue on this home is very peaceful. I like the variation of the windows..having one open. Nice shot including the green bushes too.
