Matoke.....Uganda's main dish is made with bananas....abundant in the fertile south.

Uganda is capable of producing food - about a quarter of its land is fertile and arable. Staple foods include solidified maize meal porridge served with beans or a meat sauce of beef, goat or mutton. At the reserves, wild game is often available.

National specialties:
• Matoke (a staple made from bananas).
• Millet bread.
• Cassava (a root that is commonly made into flour).
• Chicken and beef stews.
• Fried crickets.

National drinks:
• Waragi (a local millet-based alcohol).
• Pombe (locally made fermented banana beer).

So...Bananas are very important !

Impressive image. I really like the guy in the cowboy boots and jeans :) That's something my dad would be seen wearing here in Va :) And he seems to be wondering the same thing I am, how in the world is he going to ride that bike with all those Bananas?! TFS!!!

Thank you for bringing a slice of life from there. I remember Henry Belafonte's the banana song. Nice composition!
