Egypt Desert Navy Seals

Felucca boat trip with the Djoser travel group.

Before we could start a Felucca Nile trip from Aswan to Kom Ombo we first had to go to the local Egyptian Naval station for a permit. While the captain of our Felucca went inside to get the appropriate stamps signs and other mambo jambo and of course after he paid enough Egyptian Pounds we could finally start our boat trip. During the negotiations I was on the deck of the boat and spotted these two very dangerous looking Egyptian ‘Navy Seals’ (although on their shirts ‘police’ is printed apparently the laundry man was out of Navy shirts) but for sure they belonged to the Naval base station of Aswan. Looking at somebody's face you never can tell if it's is a smart person or not. What frightens me were the two Kalashnikov rifles they carried. God forbid these guns were loaded! Looking at their faces they appeared to be boored and I can imagine why! Having a job as sailor and you are thousand miles from the sea and between you and the salt water is only desert. You wished always to be a sailor (your mother told you so always do your homework and than you will have a good job my son: join the Navy!) And now you are with nothing more than millions of square miles of desert sand around you. The only water you have around you is the mineral water from a bottle and a few miles of stinking Nile water. I can tell you won’t feel happy at all! By the way the felucca trip was splendid.

Yep, they look very well trained.
Wonder if they know which end the bullets come out. By the way they hold the guns, I very much doubt it.
Nice BW picture. Very funny indeed.
