This is a tough one to critique ... partly because, as you say, there are a lot of horses on TL, and partly because I hate horses. I really don't find them interesting animals. To me they have no soul or character, they're about as enjoyable as flies.
I think you've captured this one ok though. I'm a little concerned about the very bright strip along the fence in the background, it keeps drawing my eye away from the subject, as does the spray of leaves on the right of the shot.
Those elements aside, I think there's good detail on the pelt on its nose, the mane and eyes are nicely sharp too.
