I received a plant bearing these lovely yellow flowers just in time for the Friday Theme:-))

Clivias or Bush lilies are indigenous to South Africa and was first discovered in the forests of Zuluand in South Africa in 1888. I was fortunate to receive two very spectacular clivias last week form a cousin. Her son cultivates clivias! This weekend there is a huge exhibition in Pretoria by clivia breeders from all over South Africa and I hope to go there and take some photos to share with you later. I believe the new varieties include not only the pastel colours but also variegated ones and different forms of leaves etc. I am curious to see them.

The yellow and pastel coloured clvias are more rare but many nurseries have started to grow them. When grown from seeds they can take up to three years before the mature plant bears flowers. I am therefore very lucky with my mature plants that are inbloom already. Many of the gardens in our Security complex also have lots fo the more common orange clivias.

After the flowers drop off red berries form.

Hi Wia,
Splendid contibution to this week's theme, water drops are well exposed, the yellow colour has good contrast to the dark background. Good framing, too. Great job! TFS.

Such a beautiful plant!! I love the flowers and hope you will also show us the berries later. Interesting! The water droplets make this even more pretty , and I love the shade of yellow. TFS

Bush lilies, like that name Wia, indeed soft mellow yellow and wonderful presented, a beautiful addition for the theme.

Heel mooi gepresenteerd. Wij lazen dat het in Bloemfontein erg koud is geweest. Hebben jullie daar ook last van gehad?
