Hi all,
After my mom noticed my rather cynical view of the world last night, I found a bunch of bright flowers on my desk when I got home from work. I'm sure her intention wasn't for me to spend my evening in my room photographing them :P.
Anyways I decided to make a little series out of it. They were all the same type of flower, but different colours. I think in the end I decided four are worth posting. Four each one, I put some degree of thought into how I portray it. In other words what it was that cought my attention etc. For this one, I wanted to show those yellow parts and how they contrast with the red. Hence the low PoV and shallow DoF.
Lighting was just from my ceiling lights, and the black background was achieved with my trusty ol' black trousers.
Very little PP on this one. Slight levels adjustment, slight white balance correction, USM and frame.
Hope you like it,
Jako
PS I know I haven't really looked at any one else's stuff, today, but doing these shots seemed to take ages! I'll make up for today tomorrow. |

HelloJako,
I like much the crop. Found well!
Very beautiful colors. The black bottom suits him well.

From the thumbnail I thought this was small flames from coal embers, so 10/10 for using the title to plant a suggestion in the viewers mind. The shallow depth of field and your point of view work well to create something a little different from the run of the mill flower picture.
Thanks for sharing

Good work on this first one of the series, Jako. Very original & creative way to show this beautiful flower. I really like your choice of DOF and the colours are jumping at me. Nice tight composition. Excellent!
