Hi all,
First post in a while, and probably last for a while as well. I'll post some more when I get some more decent photos.

Anyways this shot. Me and my dad went driving at night to get some moving traffic shots. This one is purely accendental really. Well, we were going along at like 60mph, and I wondered what kind of shot I would get with long exposures. I got some nice ones through the window, but all had blurs from the dirt. So, I put the camera on a tripod and self-timer, and stuck it out of the sunroof! So I guess in that sense it's not too accidental...

The title seemed to fit quite well. It just seemed to have the kind of mood of someone driving late at night to get away from it all. Let me know if you agree.

As for the blue hue, I had the colour temperature set up wong in the camera from previous shots, and I rather liked it, so I chose not to correct it.

PP- i tied to keep this as much as the original as possible. I did very slight perspective correction, and also a crop to get the narrower format. Then just the usual USM, resizing etc. I know that line on the right gives the illusion that the photo is not at all level, but like I said, I tried to do as little as possible.

So then, hope you like it, and hopefully I'll be back posting/commenting shortly.
Jako

PS- next time you post a photo, look carefully at the drop-down selection of apertures. There are some funky negative ones, how cool, I gotta get me a lens that does that! :P

Very impressive and very innovative, Jako. I don't think I would have ever thought of putting my camera out on the roof of the car...I would have been concerned of losing it. But you take risks and you get great results. This is very artistic as usual and you got some great lines in this image. I am wondering though if you should have cloned out the tiny lines on the left toward the top but I am not certain..just a thought. Excellent!

Wow Jako, awesome shot very successful experiment I must say.

Great job as usual.

Alex

Hi Jako,
great shot. I think you have done great getting this without collecting the bugs too ;=0

Good idea to get out and do the stuff, that is how you get the great shots!

Cheers

Steve

I like it!
It looks like travelling to another dimenssion, cool and modern, bravo, Jako!!

Great colours and shapes captured here - it reminds me of a sci-fi special effect where a spaceship has just gone to "warp" speed, I half expect to see the trails of stars.
As for your process, you're a braver person than I for sticking your camera through a sunroof at 60mph - one stray beetle and you'd be picking insect out of the lens forever.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Pretty amazing shot, Jako! That blue is something else, and the white lines very electric. Excellent!
