[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On the way from the Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia, we passed by elephant Island, were Shackleton's men were stranded for 4 months, before being rescued by the Yelcho, a Chilean Navy ship mastered by Captain Luis Pardo. The Yelcho was underpowered and had no permission from the Chilean navy to performe this mission. Captain Pardo risked his command, his rank and his very life on a mission were 3 other superior vessels had failed. Chile is naturally proud of their role in the rescue and a bust was placed at the site by a Chilean expedition. There are Chilean bases in the Antarctic Peninsula named for both Piloto Pardo and the Yelcho.
Landind was not possible for us due to the bad weather, the exposed nature of the island and the small beach. Pity!

A very nicely observed shot. The lit face of the ice is a very powerful element and is well contrasted against the darker surrounds.
The excessive noise takes a little away from the success of the shot.
