[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,

This one has been made ready for TL quite some time ago actually. But to be honest I could never make up my mind whether it's worth uploading or not.

I found this horse in a field about 5 minutes from my house when I went for a walk. He was quite curious and came to the fence as soon as he spotted me. Trouble is he just wouldn't stay still. Combined with the fact that I wanted to get close up shots at f2.8, I'm sure you can imagine a lot of shots were just a blury mess.

PP- I cropped it somewhat. It used to be in horiontal orientation so I basicly cut it in half (the rest was on the left). I also adjusted levels, and applied some USM after resizing. Not sure about shutter speed but it was probably around 1/150. ISO 200.

Hope you like it, it's unusual I know.

great sharpness, fine picture
thanks for sharing
best regards

Unusual but extremelly well done, Jako. I like close-up details over presenting the whole object so I think you did well here. I really like your DOF making only the eye very sharp and the rest all blurry. It is quite a stare you have captured. Wel done!

Hi Jako,
What a stunning photo. Such a great close up and such beautiful details. I really love the warmth in this shot and the perfect DOF.
TFS,
Niek

It is as nice as it is unusual. Interesting how little is needed to convey the tame and warm nature of an animal.

I like the shallow DOF. Great focus. I am glad you decided to upload it, TFS!

Well, well Mr. Steady-Hand,

Seems you've perfected yet another shot. Whether the horse was giddy or not, you definately got a nice angle with perfect focus. I mean that, because look at the horses' eyelashes, you can see the tiny dust particles on the lashes. This reminds me of my horse-back riding days, I'd always stroke the horses' heads/necks extra because it has a soothing effect on these lovely (but still gigantic) animals.

Best bit about this photo (par moi) would have to be.... hmmm how the rest of the image is blurred except the horses' focal region. In other words his eyes (and yeah a little of his hair is focused too, but well... :P)

Good framing and titling! Damn I really want to go back to my horse-riding lessons... hmmm, perhaps I shall have a talk with my Mother.

Biance.

Hi Jaco,
gorgeous close up. The DOF and the lighting is wonderful. Very well cropped and presented.

Jako,
I think this is a fine image. The POV is unique and daring. Horses make good subjects if they are taken correctly. the exposure is good and the composition is tremendous. Well done my friend,
Scott
