BABY CORMORANT FEEDING
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The baby cormorant, dives deep into the mother's throat, to get his share of regurgitated fish.
I find it dramatic!
Note the blue eye on the adult cormorant. This is how we know they are grown ups!
Adult cormorants feed by diving, often in flocks called rafts to depths of several meters. They remain in the Antarctic only as long as there is open water, and return early in the spring as the sea ice melts.
Photo taken at the nesting area in Petermann Island
PS was cropping, brightness decrease 1 point, contrast increase and some curve adjustment , all in Camera Raw.
Cheers,
Wellington
Este bebe cormorão mergulha fundo na garganta da mãe para forçar a regurgitação de peixes.
Acho isso dramático!
Note o olho azul da mãe.
Wellington |

Hi Wellington,
Indeeed a great capture! Nice tight composition. Like the motion blur on the wings. Great job!
Regards,
Edwin
Hi Wellington,
I did have to get used to the noise on the wings of the little one. Guess you cropped quite a bit with that focal length, which might have resulted in the noisy feel on the wings.
But the composition as a whole is pleasant. And also the little act going on there! I was first thinking 'What is happening there?!'. But a good note as well ;-). And yes, I find it quite dramatic as well. Just imagine we feed our kids that way! :-)
Greetings,
Dennis
Hello Wellington,
This cannot have been an easy shot but you have achieved remarkable results!
Lovely details and colours of mother and baby.
There is a little noise in the b/g but that hardly detracts from a lovely shot!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
