nice capture dilshan... well done with the timing... the sharpness is fantastic... well focused shot... TFS
Hi mate
Some good decisions made - with the ISO, the high shutter speed, and the friend with the clapper.
I think where this falls is that it tries to show too much, too many birds. The eye is unable to find a point on which to focus, and keeps moving through the frame. For most people, that is an uncomfortable experience: a photograph that lets the eye rest on a focal point and uses the rest of the image as "context" is usually more pleasing.
The two ascending birds in the centre of your shot, for example, are a beautiful sight. If you had zoomed in on one or two birds only and followed their take-off, or if you cropped this shot down for a similar result, I think it would be much better!

Rew

Hello Dilshan,
First I must commend you for experimenting with your cam's features. I am impressed with the noisefree ISO 1600, and the sharp and well focused birds with your f/5.0, 1/500 seconds settings. But I agree with Rew. The composition is a bit busy; the sharp railing from the bridge is distracting.
I also fancy bird photography but at this time I will need to invest on a telephoto lens longer than 300 mm. In a quick stroll of your gallery, I have the impression that you have a firm grasp and understanding of the technical side of photography. It's in the composition that you and I need to work on. BTW, I do like your previous posting of No R'egret...
I can blah blah more but I am squeezing this c/c on a lunch break at work. My best regards.
Danilo

an interesting and beautiful figures are nice,
various figures make this picture holding time in spite of moment shot.
really the wings show us invisible air to visible, and the sounds of wings make us notice the birth of wind.
thank you for your excellent shot,
