Very cute niece you have there! The problem is by going for the whole body/face shoulder shot, you have cut off here wee little hands and fingers in the frame and the BG is too cluttered due to hand of person standing behind with the pot. I think If you had waited longer for the person to move away or simply moved here to a simpler Bg, you may have given this a more powerful focal point. I do realize it was a decisive moment and given the circumstances-you have done well. The flash intensity is also rather too strong as the light seems to be very direct and diffusing it with a diffuser/ or pulling back on the flash compensation would have given you a much better exposure and even lessened the effect of BG clutter in this scenario. Hope this feedback helps and keep experimenting with your camera until you get things more consistent. I know you can do it!

Hi Andika,

Portraits are very difficult in my opinion. I've done only one, and learned a lot from the critiques I got. She is a very pretty little girl! You should be proud to have her in your family.

Dilshan is a very good critiquer. If you want to learn focus on the things he tells you. I'm new, but have learned much from being on TL.
