Hi Folks,

This is a structure that resembles a ship, in front of the Sultan Omar Ali Saiffuddin mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. The photo was taken using my Sony DSC-H5, almost exactly a year ago. I like the blue & the reflection.

Here is brief info from the Net about the mosque.

The architecture of the mosque has a heavy influence of both Islamic and Italian styles. Designed by an Italian architect, the mosque is constructed on an artificial lagoon near the banks of the Brunei River circulated by a water village (named Kampong Ayer).

The Sultan Omar Ali Saiffuddin mosque consists of marble minarets and golden domes with courtyards and fertile gardens filled with fountains.

The mosque is circulated by a plethora of trees and floral gardens which in Islam it is considered as an interpertation of heaven. It also has a long bridge meandering across the lagoon to Kamong Ayer (the water village).

Also, there is another marble bridge connecting to a structure in the water that resembles a ship was at one time used for official state ceremonies.

The main dome which is thought to be the mosque's most recognisable feature is covered in pure gold. The mosque stands stands at 52m (171ft) high and can be seen from virtually anywhere in Bandar Seri Begawan. The main minaret is the mosque's tallest feature.

It incorporates a Renaissance and Italian architectural style which is a unique theme seen in few Islamic houses of worship across the world. The minaret has a working and modern elevator which goes to the top of the structure, people who reach the top of the minaret can witness a panoramic view of the city.

The interior of the mosque is for prayer only but it has a magnificent mosaic stained glass, as well as many arches, semi-domes and marble columns. Nearly all the material used in the construction of the building has been shipped in from other countries. For example, the marble is from Italy, the granite from Shanghai, the crystal chandeliers from England and the carpets from Saudi Arabia.

Thanks for viewing.

excellent sharpness and detail. very well done.

Hi Agoes,

The picture clarity is most excellent. I could make out those fine details on the ship (boat?)and although there are ripples in the water, the distorted reflection actually suits the whole composition I think. IMHO, the colour tones are a little too blue (cool) I think. But does not spoil the picture either, still works.

TFS.

Alvin

Asalamualaikum Bro,
Ini yang aku salute banar arah bro ani..note bro atu kalau aku meninggal membuat..hangat dingin ku oleh nya tu bro..hehe satu hari baru siap tu ku buat...maklumlah i.Q randah..hehehe

Foto lagun ani sekarang dalam repair bro,di kasi cantik lagi, dan juga doom masjid nya ditukar lagi emas nya..Insya allah siap sebelum bulan julai ani.Sebelum sambutan Hari Puja Usia KDYMM Sultan Brunei.Mungkin akan bertambah cantik lagi ni bro kalau dah siap.Kami disini ready2 udah mau mengambar..

Oya tentang shot bro ni,honest aku komen bro, dalam pengelitan ku terlalu blueish dikit.mungkin kerna effected dari warna langit biru yang terlalu kuat.Selalu nya kalau aku bro aku tak pakai Auto WB kalau terjadi seperti ani.Aku pakai Kelvin mode saja..dengan control dibawah 3500k.Baru nampak look natural warna dan environment nya.Atu pengalaman ja bro kalau mengambar dibawah panas terik.

Anyway this absolute wonderful~Both!! Image and words.
Nicely taken bro.

Hi Agoes

Reminds me of the marble boat in the Summer Palace in Beijing. Wonderful reflections with superb color & sharpness. Good to have some 'breathing space' for the prow at left. Tfs!

Assalamualaikum Agoes. I like the clean image from your Sony processor. Pristine reflection with clean and sharp perspective. Beautiful day with stunning sky. Well done and thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend and best regards. Jusni

Hello Agoes,
Beautiful architecture. Its like a modern idea but with a very traditional design. Wouldn't have guessed that its actually a structure in front of a mosque. Very unique.
A good point of view and nicely composed. The reflection and colors are incredibly awesome! I always failed to get a full reflection of anything. Beautifully captured!

Best regards,
Sharina

Beautifully eyecatching shot mate. Terrific deep saturation and perfect capture of the reflections. The pagoda is well placed in the frame.
