[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
No posting on sunset today, but rather one of the shot from the Brunei National Day event held on 23rd February last month.

Here, a group of youth, most likely to be from one of the country's uniformed personnel and where each one of them carrying the, 3-coloured and diagonally-striped, national flag, are getting ready to march into the stadium in the bright hot morning parade.

These youths are wearing a national dress locally known as the 'Cara Melayu'. The cloth wrapped around their waist, and usually goes down to knee level, is called 'Sinjang'. The material of the Sinjang can be made simply from normal cotton but many are weaved together with gold threads - with price that can fetch up to US$1000.

This was shot under a pretty dark shade so I set my camera to ISO 200 and a reasonably fast speed to gain enough light and to try freeze any movement.

My 35-350 (f3.5-f5.6) lens was used for this – obviously not a fast lens. So to blur the boys at the far side, instead of using a big aperture, I chose to shoot from a distance and used the maximum length of 350mm. From afar, I could safely fire without any of them looking at my camera, hoping to get a good natural shot.
