[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture of my daughter was taken during a recent holiday to Miri in the hotel lobby. While we were waiting for a room to be ready I noticed a spot light shining its light upwards near a feature wall and asked my daughter to step in to the light. Used CWA metering and no flash. Shot using A priority mode and auto ISO enabled. Any comments, critiques, workshops welcome and thanks for dropping by...

cheers,

dilshan74

Hi Dilshan,

Interesting picture proposed. Excellent portrait.
Excellent color with a splendid contrast.
You have a very pretty daughter.
Have a nice week,

Hi dilshan,

a good portrait with good colors.
good contrast and a good pose from your daughter.
well done and well composed.

Tfs,
Sanjib.

The light and colour temp here is flattering - she makes a lovely little model and your steady hands with the slowish shutter have kept this clear and sharp.

One of the drawbacks of light-from-below is that it lights the underside of the cheeks, nose, and eyes, giving an unusual impression of a face; this can be used as a photographic technique but in my opinion is seldom flattering to the subject. The human brain is a funny thing, we are accustomed to seeing faces lit from above, which is where the sun usually illuminates!

I do wish her hair was a little less covering her face.

Still, a colourful and fun shot, and a successful experiment with light.

dear Dilshan Mahdi,
a beautiful portrait shot of the lovely girl(your daughter).
this lighting is like foot lights on the stage, it shows us another feeling of her face.
her smiling of mouth is rather enhanced, and eyes look settling on her cheeks and under eye lids, these make different air on her from common face.
anyway, her excellent express is nice,
thank you,
Akihisa

Hello Dilshan,
your daughter looks so lovely! This is a wonderful portrait, very well composed, good positioning of the subject in the frame. I like her spread out hairs and the way she gently smiles. The light is just too good.

TFS, abhijit.
