Well, finally I decided to post this new picture I took today. This was taken at a dinner party and features a Chinese money frog.
Wikipedia Extract: Chan Chu (Chinese: 蟾蜍; pinyin: chánchú; Wade-Giles: ch'an-ch'u) means "toad" or "frog", especially the "Lucky Money Toad" (Chinese: 招财蟾蜍; pinyin: zhāocái chánchú; literally "wealth-beckoning toad") or "Three-legged Money Frog", a popular Chinese symbol for prosperity. It often depicts a bullfrog portrayed with red eyes and flared nostrils, sitting on a pile of traditional Chinese cash, with a coin in its mouth. According to Feng Shui lore, it is believed to drive away evil, protect wealth, and increase income.
Method of use:
In Feng Shui, the Chan Chu "Money Frog" is alleged to bring wealth into your life. Place one frog within view of your front door to invite money in; or place eight facing the different directions in your living area and one facing your front door. The frog is then turned backwards during nightime, to prevent this newly earned luck from going away.
Photographic Technique: I took my nifty fifty along today to catch some festive shots and the good thing is I left my reverse ring adapter on and saw this macro opportunity.
1)I reverse mounted the lens and switched to manual mode
2) Using the aperture ring, set F-stop to f/11 and ISO set at 200.
3)Then I set the flash to manual in menu and set a value of 1/60.
4) Then I trialled some shots to get the exposure I wanted.
5) By carefully moving back and forth I focused on the red ruby eye of the frog and took several shots with varying distances until I was happy with the focal point being sharp enough.
PP work:
1) Using picasa 3.5 I downloaded the file
2) cropped out some negative space.
3 Then applied some sharpening to bring out the finer textures.
4)Save, resize and uploaded to TL
Any comments, tips or suggestions for improvement are welcome and thanks for dropping by....
cheers,
Dilshan |

Hi, Dishan. I do like the abstract quality of this photograph and the creative touch.Actually it looks like a abstract sculpture. The red eye which is the focal point is sharp and the interesting note helped me to understand the motive. cheers and TFS.
Note. Play around with fliters to get different effects.
