[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
"Ta Prohm is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Located approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray near Tonle Bati, it was built by King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. Unlike most of the other Angkor temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor's most popular temples with visitors."

Just back from my second trip to Cambodia - I love that country. The people, the culture, the history - all extremely impressive and humbling.

Shot in RAW and b/w, converted to sepia jpeg afterwards. Then aside from resizing and sharpening, nothing else done.

This is wild! What a place!
I really like the you used the "dripping roots" as a subject. The sepia tones work very nicely here too.
Well done.

How can a photograph of this amazing place be anything but magnificent?
Good choice to deliver it in black and white. It's sharp and well composed although I suspect that you could have used a quicker shutter speed to preserve more shadow and mystery in the shot?
Great work
Congratulations

wow, fascinating how nature is reclaiming its own from the remnants of a past civilization. Waht a place!

cheers,
Cristian

good to see you back richard :)
i like this classic view of the ancient temple
the are some very strange and wonderful shapes and patterns, textures all rolled into one place :)

Wow! Fantastic image, Richard. I love the duotone and the precise textures that one can feast their eyes on.

Could you wander throughout the ruins, or were there restrictions? Looks like it might be a little dangerous actually going inside these structures.

Also, a question, in your note you write that you shot in RAW and b/w, then converted to sepia. Would it not be better to shoot in color and convert to grayscale/sepia in pp? That way you don't lose the color information in case you want to keep it in color...just curious.

Hello Richard,
This is a very nice scenery with excellent details, POV and composition. I love the way you PP it. I'm amazed by those great details you caught. It really seems to be a mysterious place. Well done! Thanks,
Claudine

What an amazing piece of architecture.
The details are sharp and well captured.
The sepia tones work well.
Love the texture of the tree against the stone. And also the stone figure you have captured. TFS Tracey

Hi Richard,
I like the sepia tone here, it does work very well here, and that tree that "grabbed" the temple is amazing.
Thanks for sharing
Cheers

I've seen it before, but this one is one of the better compositions I've seen. Great exposure too. It's too bad about the burned out sky, but that is no fault of this moment - the executing is perfect of this interesting subject.

WOW! Very cool love looking at places where nature reclaims it's land. Very cool making it b/w gives a great feel. TFS

Richard,
Howdy stranger!
This photo screams BLACK AND WHITE!
I like the composition and the detail you've captured. I always like your Cambodia shots, I bet I'd love a visit to the country. Very interesting photo with some very useful notes.
Very well done,
Scott

Hi Richard,

A very majestic place to be visited. The tree trunk looks very huge and old indeed. But I think it would be greater if this photo can show us the whole tree altogether with the Ta Prohm.

Hong
