This policeman asked me to come over and talk to him at Angkor Wat. He was sitting in the window of an ancient temple. He asked me if I wanted a police identification card for 150 of his countries money. I panicked, and said no. I left as fast as possible. I told the first tourist I spotted. I saw him following me, I thought. BUT what he wanted was to try to sell the card to the people I was talking to. Later everyone I met, had been asked by him to buy a card.

Wow, what a crazy incident! I'm not sure how to best meter these high contrast scenes. One idea would be to place a graduated ND filter over the lighter part. but that would not be practical on the 8080. The image certainly works but a little more detail in his face would really make it dynamic. I suppose you could select that part of the image in PS, feather it about 140 pixels, and lighten it with levels, curves, or brightness/contrast. You saw this well!

It is really a sad story rather than crazy.. These police men get paid less than $27 (US) a month and they have to feed an entire family.
One point for the picture but your note I didn't like.. sorry

good shot, but there was no reason to be afraid of the man as if he was some crazy praying on an innocent american tourist or any well-to-do person for that matter. That's the sad and unfortunate ignorance we have about less fortunate people and their countries. Just see that man as a tired and hopeless individual and wonder what his life is like outside of his work.

gloria,
i read your notes and see your photos and get a kick out of them, because you tell it as it is. After living in the States for 13years when I go back I almost get the same treatment. I asked my friend why that happens, he just chuckled and told me that they can smell the dollar.
