I think someone else may have posted a similar shot recently...well, here's my version :-)

This was taken as myself and GreenBaron left for Siem Reap after watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat. The sun was behind us and the plays of light on the red stone, yellow balloon and green trees really were wonderful. I could never do justice to the beauty of the place, but hopefully I can give some sort of idea.

It was a pretty early start to get there and nab a decent spot to watch the sunrise, but it was well worth getting up for - after the sunrise we headed for breakfast then on to Banteay Srei. More photos of that to come!

Shot in RAW, 1/200, f5.0, ISO 50. Jpegged, resized, sharpened. Basically posted as taken.

Morning Richard,

I love the dark threaterning sky broken only by that bright yellow ball, the lighting is great all over. The colour of the bricks on the right is great and the reflection with the ballon is perfect.

Cheers
Tom

Hi Richard,

Good shot.
The Yellow spot is looking fine in this image... Smiles to you for including the baloon in frame.
Salutes.

Hi Rich,
Again on the same page, I now becomes really weird big fellah! Great shot, in respect of sharpness better as the one I posted, although I think the increasing the brightness and saturation tad might improve the image a bit. Nontheless the mood in this shot is excellent shown. Great posting my friend!
hans

Lovely shot with the dark imposing clouds Richard.
Regards Mark :)

Hi Richard,

How nice to go together with TL friends . . You have a broader view and both are lovely picture . .
I should go to this place . . Lovely one . .

How are you my friend? Wish you always be happy and healthy . .

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Hello Richard,

I had a feeling that I had seen this one somewhere before!

I like how the dark, threatening sky is reflected with equal menace in the water and the two are separated by the amber wall.
The balloon looks like an incongrous sun!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Richard
I have seen one like this one, yep. I like the crispness of this one. The light is very different from what I am used to seeing, so it intrigues me. The little bits of bright colour are super. Great composition and clarity.
Wanda

hi Richard..
Yes it is similar to Han's shot but many differences.. Interesting how you can be in the same spot but take different photos.... I really like the feel of the dark sky... nice natural light on the stone wall!

Tricia

great reflections and colors.

It seems that you two really had a great time, and both are showing really beautiful scenery. The lighting here is very nice and I really like the clouds. These pictures are very different than any I`ve seen of Cambodia. Very pretty. Thanks!

Hmmm, I'm beginning to think you and Hans are one and the same! heehee! Nice shot, at first I thought it was a moon rise on the thumbnail! This is really a pleasing shot!

Not bad version either. I'll put a text similar to what I wrote on the other post:
It ended up as a balloon but at first I thought it is the moon.

Tibi

Hi Richard,
On the off change that you decided not to shelf your picture for a while longer I took a look in your album and to my surprise you did upload it anyway - must be the healthy competiion between the N. and the C. then.
Looks like a great start of the day here and already the tour buses are out in full force - like I told Hans - the atmosphere seems peaceful enough with the people in the distance. Wonderful warm low morning light against a threatening sky (hope it did not open).

Els

Yes, someone did!! He was wearing a red rose I think!!
It is an awesome scene with teh balloon in the sky reflecting on the waters. I'm not saying whose pic is best, but I do like them BOTH

Hi Richard
Have you been together with Green Baron (Hans), same motive but a different light. Good shot beautiful POV, superb sharpness and reflections, good focus and a very good compositon. Compliments.
Regards
Jens.

./PL:::: sorry run out.

Hi Richard, Very striking composition with the orange ballon in front of the dark clouds beyond. Looks like a enjoyable trip with the bonus of meeting the GreenBaron. The details such as the old green bus all add to the ambiance of this shot. TFS. Murray.

Beautiful. A superb shot. The dark sky on the BG is so dramatic. You did a wonderful work here. All of yuor photos from Cambodia are excellent! Sothy

I had to laugh when I saw this because my immediate reaction was: "Didn't I already critique this?"
I guess I did -- in somebody else's gallery :D

Superb composition, wonderful depth of colour: a most dramatic posting

Hi Richard,
Somehow familiar. :) But again great. :) Although the GreenBaron version got more contrast. Have a nice weekend, cheerz, László

PS: I add You to the group of my fave photographers.

Hi Richard,an excellent composition with the balloon to one side of the shot. The light is very special, somehow highlighting the trees, the wall and the balloon.
I like the grey sky,it complements the other colours.
You have managed to convey a calm scene even though we know that there are hordes of people there.
Tfs, regards Jean.
